"Oh, Miss Believer, my pretty sleeper.
Your twisted mind is like snow on the road.
Your shaking shoulders prove that it's colder.
Inside your head than the winter of dead.
I will tell you I love you.
But the muffs on your ears will cater your fears.
My nose and feet are running as we start.
To travel through snow.
Together we go."
Dorcas smiled at the Gryffindor’s words. She couldn’t help but feeling slightly surprised to hear them. ❝ It really is. I actually miss my family quite a bit during the school year.❞ The brunette confessed with a soft laugh. The Meadowes had a good family dynamic, and Dorcas had always enjoyed spending time with her family. Writing her parents or brother simply wasn’t the same as seeing them everyday, and she had no shame in admitting that. ❝ Don’t get me wrong, I love Hogwarts, I truly do, I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t.❞ She added with a faint smile, remembering the day before she boarded the Hogwarts express for the first time. As much as present Dorcas absolutely adored the school and magic, her eleven year old self wasn’t too keen on trading the muggle life for some magical school in the middle of nowhere… especially because that meant leaving her muggle-born father behind. So he had made a pact with her — she could return to her life at home if that was her desire, but it was only fair that she gave the Wizarding world a shot first, and attend Hogwarts for at least one year. The pact was honored, but eleven year old grumpy Dorcas feel in love with the castle the second she spotted it’s lights in the dark, on the horizon, while she was sitting in the charmed, traditional boats. ❝ But sometimes I wish I could just.. spend a day at home.. sleep in my bed, you know ?❞ The brunette genuinely felt bad about not having reached out to the redhead during the summer - they had exchanged what ? A letter ? That was miserable, and in all honestly, Dorcas felt quite disappointed in herself — she was a better friend than that. She let out an lighthearted laugh at Lily’s reply. ❝ But you’ve asked about it.. that totally gives you brownie points in the professors’ books.❞ The Hufflepuff replied with a nod and a wink. ❝But in all seriousness, you’re absolutely right, don’t put yourself through any more work than necessary —- although, if you really are considering taking some advanced classes, I advise you to stay far away from Arithmancy. It’s a pain in the butt… don’t know what I was thinking when I signed up for that one.❞
❝ I think everyone does. ❞ Well, she wasn’t completely sure about that but she knew it was true for herself. Sending letters back and forth between Lily and her parents. She often wrote to her sister but there was never a reply. The thought always saddened her but she tried not to dwell on it for too long. ❝ I don’t doubt that you love Hogwarts. It’s been a dream come true for me. ❞ If the girls friendship could be attested to anything, it would be the fact that neither were pureblood. They understand the muggle world and living in it wasn’t a struggle. While Dorcas wasn’t too happy with leaving the muggle world behind, Lily was excited but both had fell in love with Hogwarts. With the magic. Their common love for the wizarding world made for a solid friendship. They never took it for granted, even when they missed their families. ❝ I miss my bed. I really do. Some of the girls stay up late to talk. And sometimes I join in but the times I don’t, I would really like to get some solid sleep. ❞ Lily was usually very good at keeping contact with her friends but as friendly as she was with Dorcas, they weren’t as close as she was with her house mates. Though, she decided to change that this year. In that moment, she made a note to speak to Dorcas whenever she could. And write letters to her during the summer. ❝ Advanced Arithmancy is definitely not on my list. I took it as a third year and let’s say, I was not awake for most of it. ❞
